2008 - 2009 Officer Election Information

The time to elect new UMass ASLA officers for the 2008 – 2009 school year is coming soon, and there are several key dates.  The election procedures remain the same as last year; however, there is a new officer position that was approved by the membership in November of 2007.  Read the information below regarding the dates and new procedures.

Week of March 31st  –
April 4th

Officer Nomination Period

People may nominate themselves or any other ASLA member who has met the requirements contained in our Constitution.  The nominator must also provide their name on the form.  Nominations lacking the name of the nominator will not be considered valid nominations.  Forms are available beginning March 31st in and must be returned to the main office of the Department of Landscape Architecture and Regional Planning, Hills North 109 by April 4th at 4PM.

April 7th – April 9th

Acceptance or Rejection of Nomination

Nominees will be asked to confirm their nomination by completing the “Officer Candidacy Acceptance” form.  If an individual is nominated for more than one office, the nominee must accept only one nomination and reject the other(s).  This is performed by completing the “Officer Candidacy Acceptance” form.

Following the brief addresses, each UMass ASLA member shall be entitled to cast one vote for each office.

By Friday, April 18th

Tally of the Votes

The 2007 – 2008 Officers and Class Representatives will tally the votes cast and announce the officers-elect.  The officers-elect will assume their responsibilities at the conclusion of the 2007 – 2008 school year.

Mid-Late April, 2007

Thank you to all of those of you who came and voted.  The new officers will take office at the conclusion of the school year.

For all of those who want to be involved besides being an officer, please consider being a Class Representative.  Class Representatives attend meetings of the Officers and Class Reps, and they assist with events, tasks, and other things within the organization.  They also help relay the on goings of the UMass ASLA to their classes.  Please see or contact the President-elect if you are interested in being a Class Representative next year.  We would love to have your help!
